'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith continues clash with City.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he reminisces about the dramatic closing stages of his team's epic comeback victory against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. The encounter culminated with Galbraith temporarily wearing a supporter's spectacles following the post-goal scrum.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith struck the post with a speculative shot from distance, and Cameron Burgess immediately hammered in the deflection before sprinting toward the East Stand to celebrate, with the crowd mobbing the players.

Stunning Reversal

The result capped an unbelievable turnaround given the team had trailed 2-0 deep into the second half. Amid the delirium, there was some unintended consequences. Galbraith explained, "There was a spectator sort of calling out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're individuals, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The result earned a next round fixture at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, a team Galbraith came close against at the same stage of the FA Cup with the London side in February. He had a prime vantage point when Orient took the lead in remarkable manner, with a teammate's long-range effort from about long distance going in via the woodwork and the opposition keeper. It feels criminal that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've credited him for taking the effort on from that far out," commented Galbraith, who began the game centrally before shifting to right wing-back after the team changed shape. That meant competing with Jack Grealish, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the player was among the opposition who complimented the way the underdogs attacked the game.

Opponent's Class

"Physically they are exceptional but even the basics and simple things, they can just do it over and over again," the midfielder notes. "It appears that they complete every delivery and they are adept at manage and take the sting out of a game. You can believe you're holding your own and then suddenly they will just thread a ball between defenders without you even seeing. You have to be switched on at all times of the game. It demands a resilient mindset and attention just to keep pace."

Swansea Move

The Welsh side pushed to sign Galbraith in January and secured his signature to sign him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He made a name as a popular figure across multiple campaigns at his former club and has swiftly done the same in south Wales. At Orient he linked up again with Richie Wellens, who earlier gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in senior football on loan at his loan club from Old Trafford. Then came a spell at League Two the Manchester club, before he permanently left Manchester United.

Growth Journey

"I was likely a bit naive going into men's football. I think a lot of players would say development squad matches is very different. Sometimes it feels like possession is exchanged without much intensity. You see few hard challenges. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adjust fast."

Country Call-ups

His progress reflects that maturation for club and country, shining for his national side, who are fighting to qualify for the World Cup next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has started the past five games, including home and away fixtures against a football powerhouse. The ex-coach, Galbraith's previous international manager, offered the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he handles the football and his eye for a game-changing assist.

Starting Out

This represents a remarkable path for the youngster from the local area in the Belfast suburb, just outside Belfast, who used to see his parent, his father, also a midfielder, play for a local club.

Red Devils Debut

Galbraith's only game for the Red Devils came in the away trip in 2019, a Europa League trip to Astana, where they played on an synthetic surface and the venue ceiling was shut owing to temperatures of bitter cold. "This represented a long trip and it was freezing," he comments, grinning. "The days leading up, myself and quite a few of the young lads worked out jointly, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to join the main group and earn some playing time at the end was amazing."

Moving On

What was the challenge was it to leave United, the club he joined from Linfield aged 16? "This turned out fairly simple, because I got to the stage where I understood I wouldn't break through at the senior squad. I'm very appreciative for the time I spent there but it got to the point where I believed I needed to go my own route, move to a lower level and play men's football. Now I'm gradually progressing again."

Life in Swansea

This occurs during the early part of the afternoon at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has somewhere to be at the early evening: a driving theory test, another progress toward getting on the road. Prior to relocating to Sketty, the mid-twenties player was a regular in Swansea's so-called team minibus, a team vehicle driven by club employees, the drivers, which ferries players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"I travel with Gonçalo Franco, another squad member, Malick Yalcouyé – a former passenger used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's nice to spend time with the lads but I'm aiming to be the following person out of the minibus and behind the wheel. The Portuguese player likes to pull a few pranks; he's frequently playing tricks."

Supporter Connections

During his time at Orient, Galbraith would mix with supporters on public transport after starting his journey at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
