Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been won on hardcourt

A comeback the Russian player claimed his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

The Russian, a former number one, has experienced a challenging year, winning just a single victory at the big events and suffering a setback at the American major.

His varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in especial - led to him falling of the top ten and finally splitting with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Now training with his coach and Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested competitive triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

It is his maiden trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court from March of that year.

Victory also indicates the Russian has won 21 titles at 21 distinct tournaments.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my two daughters together, so to get a trophy is particularly special," said world number 14 the champion.

"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I got when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his previous six championship matches, featuring in Halle in the past months.

His counter-punching approach and regular outbursts on court had caused some to doubt if his skill to compete at the top level was finished.

However the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and compete aggressively, backed up by an improved serve.

He recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, taking four of the last five points to take the lead.

The pair traded breaks in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden professional victory, seized the initiative to force a third set.

He rescued 4 early chances in a tight third set before the Russian won the break to that score to serve for the match.

Appropriately, Medvedev earned the title with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
